In our very busy lives, many of us struggle to get enough fruit in our diet.
Nonno has a simple way to add a great mix of fresh fruit as a dessert to any meal. No additives, just fresh fruit. Nonno likes it of course because it tastes so good but you use one 1 of each different fruits and they go a long way. Nonno`s recipe will easily be enough for dessert for 8.
It is quick, easy, nutritious and a healthy addition to any meal. Any leftovers will keep in a sealed container in the fridge for a few days. What is left over is great for your lunch or for the kids’ lunches or you can put it in your blender and make a tasty fruit smoothie.
What you need to make Nonno`s Delicious Fruit Salad like Nonno makes it.
Make it the day of your meal ahead of time and store in the fridge Nonno does it in the morning for supper time – You can pick or choose your own choice of fruit but this is Nonno`s favorite Fruit salad recipe). Nonno does not peel the apples, peaches, pears, etc. but make sure you wash thoroughly and remove any blemishes.
The following need to be diced into 1/2“square pieces:
- 2 cups of seedless Watermelon
- 1 Small Orange
- 1 Mandarin or Clementine, or both
- 1 Nectarine diced into 1/2“ square pieces
- 1 Pear (use your favorite type)
- 1 plum
- 1/4 of a cored pineapple
- 1 Kiwi
- 1 cup of strawberries
1 Pomegranate – Use the seeds (Nonno gets all the seeds out underwater by filling the sink with enough cold water to cover the Pomegranate, slicing the top and bottom off and then quartering the Pomegranate underwater. He then uses a small colander to collect the seeds) Nanna showed Nonno how to do it this way.
- 1/4 cup of Raspberries, whole
- 1/4 cup of Blueberries cut in half
- 1/4 cup of Blackberries, carefully cut in two or three pieces
- 1/4 cup of dried Cranberries
- 1 Banana sliced into t 1/2“ pieces and added when ready to serve

In a large bowl, cut up the ingredients listed above in `What you need to make Nonno
s fruit salad like Nonno makes it`. Mix by tossing (or you can do it gently with a large spoon).
Place in the refrigerator in a sealed container until ready to serve (Noono uses a large bowl and covers it with plastic wrap.
When the meal is done, and you are ready for dessert, pull it out of the fridge and uncover, slice up the banana, add it. Serve and Enjoy!
*You can add whipped cream to the top or Vanilla pudding for the young ones. Some adults like to sprinkle a half shot of a good Brandy over the top.
